Rating Candidates (1-4 Scorecard)

Use the structured scorecard system to rate candidates and provide actionable feedback to recruiters.

The Scorecard System

Merato uses a 1-4 rating scale for candidate evaluations. This structured approach helps recruiters calibrate their sourcing and submit better-fit candidates over time.

  1. 1 — Strong No — Significant gaps in experience or skills. Does not meet core requirements.
  2. 2 — Lean No — Some relevant experience but missing key qualifications. Not a strong enough fit.
  3. 3 — Lean Yes — Meets most requirements. Worth moving forward with additional evaluation.
  4. 4 — Strong Yes — Excellent fit. Strong recommendation to advance immediately.

Writing Useful Feedback

Your feedback helps recruiters improve future submissions. Be specific about what was missing or what made a candidate stand out:

  • Instead of "not a fit," say "needs more experience with distributed systems at scale."
  • Instead of "looks good," say "strong backend experience, exactly the system design background we need."
  • Mention if the candidate was close but missed on a specific requirement.
